The Hokuriku Shinkansen

Going across the island of Honshu, the Hokuriksu Shinkansen traverses between the metropolitan capital of Tokyo and the prefectures on the Japan Sea Coast.
In March 2024, this Shinkansen Line expanded out to Tsuruga in Fukui. This makes it a great option for heading out to the coastla prefectures of the Hokuriku Region, including Toyama, Ishikawa, and aforemetioned Fukui. The Hokuriku Shinkansen, is available for you to use with your Japan Rail Pass and the Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass.
Travel from Tokyo to Kanazawa in just 2.5 hours, and then out to Fukui in just a little over 3 hours!
The Asama is the shinkansen that runs from Tokyo to Nagano.
The Kagayaki and Hakutaka run from Tokyo to Tsuruga, the Kagayaki is the faster (express) of the two.

Please note that the Kagayaki train has only reserved seats and has both green class and the new Gran class cars!
The Tsurugi trains will run exclusively between Tsuruga and Toyama, and will not continue on to Nagano or Tokyo.
